Diljit Dosanjh has played the lead role in Surma, a biopic of former Indian hockey captain Sandeep Singh. Directed by Shad Ali, the film stars Tapsi Pannu, Angad Bedi, Vijay Raj and Kulbhushan Kharbanda in lead roles.

Punjabi singer-actor Diljit Urta hinted at his acting through the film Punjab and in this film he is trying to show the hockey player and the accident that happened to him. Tapsi Pannu also took off her ‘Judwaa 2’ robe and befriended the field with sticks and balls. He is in the role of Harpreet in the film. The film will be released on July 13.

Sandeep Singh, born in 1986 in Kurukshetra, Haryana, is considered one of the best drag-flickers in Indian hockey. He was adept at converting penalty corners. This full back of the Indian team, which started its international career from the Sultan Azlan Shah Hockey Tournament in Kuala Lumpur in 2004, led India to victory in many events. In 2006, after being shot on the Century Express train, he became paralyzed and had to walk in a wheelchair, but he did not give up and showed the same enthusiasm on the hockey field again.

Diljit, who plays Sandeep, said that when he was first offered the film, he refused to do it. Diljit says I didn’t know the whole story then and I thought I started in Bollywood. At the moment I am not worthy of such a film. But when the filmmakers described the whole incident, I was shocked. I didn’t even know how Sandeep was shot and then he got up again. Then he gave that honor to the country. Diljit says that the whole game of hockey depends on your waist. Diljit also admitted that it was very sad for us that we did not know the story of such a legend.
