Uttarakhand bus crash: At least 25 people are feared dead in a bus crash in Uttarakhand, of which 22 have been confirmed dead. Five people injured in the accident are being treated at Dumta Primary Health Center. The condition of most of them is critical. The cause of the accident is said to be the driver’s gold. According to reports, this was the third non-stop bus journey. A contingent of Uttarakhand Police, Home Guard and SDRF is currently engaged in rescue operations. Relief efforts are hampered by the darkness of night. But those trapped in the bus are unlikely to survive.

President Ram Nath Kavand and Prime Minister Narendra Modi have expressed deep sorrow over the deaths of pilgrims on the Chardham pilgrimage. The Prime Minister has announced Rs 2 lakh from PM Relief Fund for the families of those killed in the accident and Rs 50,000 for the injured.

Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh has also spoken to Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on the phone as soon as the incident was reported and asked him to take the injured to a safe place and make arrangements for their proper treatment. The Chief Minister himself took notice of the whole incident and directed the authorities to keep in touch with the concerned officials of the Uttarakhand government and do nothing to help the injured. The Chief Minister has announced assistance of Rs. 500,000 each for the families of the deceased. The Chief Minister himself is leaving for Dehradun.

On the other hand, state BJP president Vishnu Dutt Sharma has expressed grief over the bus accident in Uttarakhand. He spoke to Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on the phone. He also asked Pana workers to help their relatives. At the same time, state Congress president Kamal Nath expressed grief over the incident and called for proper treatment of the critically injured.
