Here are some tips to help you avoid any kind of fraud using UPI.
Do not use UPI PIN to withdraw money.
Never use your UPI PIN to withdraw money. If you do not know the person to whom you are transferring money, do not transfer money.
Fraud through QR code
These days fraud cases are also being looked into with the help of QR codes. Never scan a QR code for a payment. Never share your UPI Wallet PIN, card details like PIN, One Time Password (OTP), CVV, Expiry Date, Grid Value, Card Type (Visa, MasterCard, Rupees etc.) with anyone.
Avoid downloading fake apps.
Do not download any third party apps like Screenshare, Anydesk, Teamviewer etc. based on an unknown person’s call. Most fraudsters claim to be employees of a bank or wallet company, but never download an application / UPI app / payment wallet at the suggestion or request of an unknown person. Also, never look for a helpline number on Google, Facebook or Twitter.
Criminals can also commit fraud by taking a fake SIM of your number. To avoid this, be careful when replying to text messages, emails from unknown addresses. In particular, avoid clicking on any unknown links.
