Suffering from joint pain? ‘Yellow’ can help cure arthritis-related pain

Mumbai: Are you also suffering from joint pain? But do not want to take painkillers for fear of kidney or liver damage? If so, increase the amount of turmeric in the diet. A recent study from the University of Tasmania in Australia found that yellow is a panacea treatment for osteoarthritis. The curcumin present in it may prove to be very effective in reducing pain.

According to the researchers, the polyphenols called ‘Curcuma’ found in it are effective for its anti-infective and anti-inflammatory properties. This is why people who regularly consume turmeric not only get rid of the swelling of the joints, but also block the signals that make them feel pain.

During the study, researchers divided 70 patients into two groups who were suffering from osteoarthritis. Participants in the first group were given two capsules made of turmeric daily. At the same time the other group was given sweet pills as painkillers. After 12 weeks, participants in the first group reported a greater relief in joint pain than in the other group. They also said to reduce the dose of painkillers.

Researchers claim that there is currently no effective treatment for osteoarthritis other than painkillers. In this case, the doctor may recommend turmeric as an optimal and no side effect treatment.

A scan of the participants’ joints revealed that the yellow did not change their structure, but reduced the swelling pain signal which reduced the pain sensation. The results of the study were published in a recent issue of the Annals of Internal Medical Journal.
