Archaeological findings in Haryana: In the siege of Haryana, some archeological sites of Harappa city have been found which are providing new information about this civilization. Archaeological excavations at Rakhi Garhi village have uncovered evidence of a 5,000-year-old developed city. Archaeological excavations of 3 out of 11 mounds in Rakhi Garhi village have revealed that it may be the largest city of Harappan period. The city is home to 5,000-year-old houses, sanitation, roads, jewelry, and many burials. Historians believe that Rakhi Garhi may have been an urban settlement spread over 500 hectares during the Harappan period, which was settled on the banks of the Indus and Saraswati rivers.

What did ASI get?

  1. The city of Harappa was situated on the banks of the river Saraswati, a tributary of the extinct Saraswati. The excavation of the dunes reflects the gradual development of the roads at this time.
  2. Excavations have revealed that 5000 years ago there were drains made of bricks and pottery was placed on top of the drains.
  3. In other words, the city of Harappa had a better drainage system, a wet pit-like pit was placed over the drains, which prevented the garbage from entering the drains.
  4. Roads and structures of houses made of mud and bricks have also been found under the dunes.
  5. There is also a stove that is five thousand years old. Interestingly, the platform of the stove was made by pouring clay bricks, then it was supplied with air so that it could burn like a stove or furnace.
  6. Evidence of cremation of Harappan people has been found at the bottom of Hill No. 7. Copper rings and gold plates used as ornaments were also found near the bodies.
  7. Shell bangles, utensils and utensils were found among the objects placed around the bodies. This indicates that their favorite food was also kept with the deceased.
  8. During the recent excavations, the bodies of two women were found there. Items found by these women include all pottery and toys from the Harappan period.
  9. Copper reflection has also been found in the excavation.

There are currently seven mounds to be excavated. However, the Government of India has rated Rakhi Garhi as a famous Harappan site. A museum has also been set up here which will be opened to the public in a few days.
