Construction of a new Sharda Devi temple has begun in Tatwal, near the Line of Control in North Kashmir. For this, stones and mud have been brought from Sharda’s back. In early December, the foundation stone of Sharda Study Center and Sharda Aradhana Kendra was laid at Tatwal between Vedic Jap. Tatwal is situated on the banks of the river Kishan Ganga and before the partition, the journey of Sharda Peth used to start from here. By 1948, Sharda was an old Dharamshala for the rest of the devotees who had gone back. Arrangements were made for the stay of the devotees. Now Sharda Peth is in Pakistani occupied Kashmir and has been badly damaged due to lack of maintenance. Ravinder Pandita took blessings from Jagad Guru of Srinagar Peth and dedicated the stones and mud brought from Peth in Ghulam Kashmir. After chanting slogans, Jagat Guru gave him back a rock. This stone will be installed in the foundation of the temple. Srinagar Peth officials have assured cooperation for the construction of the temple.
