Reopening of Kartarpur Corridor: Kartarpur Sahib Corridor has been opened for devotees today (Wednesday). Union Home Minister Amit Shah announced the inauguration on Tuesday. The Kartarpur Corridor connects Gurdwara Darbar Sahib, the last shrine of Guru Nanak Dev, the founder of Sikhism, with Dera Baba Nanak Gurdwara in Gurdaspur, Punjab. It has been closed since March 2020 due to Corona epidemic. Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channy, State Congress President Navjot Singh Sadhu and former Chief Minister Capt. Amrinder Singh have welcomed the central government’s decision.

Home Minister Amit Shah said that it shows the immense devotion of the central government towards Guru Nanak Dev Ji and the Sikh community. This will benefit millions of Sikh pilgrims. The country is preparing to celebrate Guru Nanak Dev Ji’s Prakash Atso on November 19. In this case, the decision will increase the joy and enthusiasm.
The Chief Minister thanked them.
Following the central government’s decision, Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh tweeted. He said that the entire cabinet of the state would pay homage to Kartarpur Sahib on November 18. He also thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah.
How will the registration be?
Those who wish to visit Darbar Sahib can register online at https://prakashpurb550.mha.gov.in/kpr/. Importantly, the decision to open the corridor has been taken at a time when Assembly elections are approaching in Punjab.
Step-by-step process of booking of Kartarpur Corridor
Step 1- First log on to the website https://prakashpurb550.mha.gov.in/kpr/.
Step 2 – Read the instructions to fill out the registration form before starting the booking process.
Step 3 – Click Apply Online on the panel above.
Step 4 – Select the nationality and travel date. Then click Continue.
Step 5 – Complete Part A of Kartarpur Corridor Registration Form and click Save & Continue. Fill in the rest.
Step 6 – After filling out the form you will receive a registration number and a PDF copy. Save both for the future.
Step 7- Three to four days before the date of Yatra, the pilgrims will receive an SMS and an email confirming the registration.
