Kanpur Violence: The Yogi government has come into action mode over the violence in Kanpur and is not in a mood to forgive anyone in this matter. Police arrested BJP youth wing leader Harshit Srivastava and registered a case against him under various provisions for his controversial tweet in the wake of recent clashes in the district. Harshit had posted a provocative post on social media about the Kanpur riots. Kanpur Police Commissioner Vijay Meena has said that we will take stern action against anyone who tries to play with religious sentiments. Police have arrested 50 accused in the Kanpur violence case till Tuesday. Of the 40 suspects whose photos have been released, two were arrested and one surrendered.

Transfers of officers

At the same time, in the wake of the Kanpur violence, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has reshuffled nine IAS officers in the state in a major reshuffle. Among them is Kanpur DM Neha Sharma. He has now been made Director Local Bodies. In addition, a total of 21 IAS officers have been transferred and DMs of several districts have been transferred. Abhishek Prakash, who has been the District Magistrate of Lucknow for two and a half years, has been transferred to the Industries Department and Surya Pal Ganguly has been given charge of Lucknow in his place.
