Good news for pensioners: There is good news for millions of pensioners in the country. The Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions has extended the deadline for submission of life certificates to December 31, which is a great relief to the central pensioners. Prior to that, the deadline was November 30, 2021. Let me tell you that every retired central government employee has to submit a life certificate by November to continue his pension. That is, those who have not submitted a life certificate by November 30, will continue to receive a pension. According to information received from the Ministry of Staff, Public Grievances and Pensions Office, a large number of pensioners visit the bank’s branches to submit their life certificates.

Extended date due to Corona epidemic

The ministry has now decided to extend the current deadline for submission of life certificates for pensioners of all age groups in view of the Corona epidemic in different states and the threat of Corona to the elderly population. During this period, unpaid pensions will continue to be paid through Pension Disbursing Authorities (PDAs).

The Office Memorandum states that the above measures are expected to maintain the proper conduct of COVID-19 while avoiding overcrowding in branches and obtaining Life Certificate. The circular also called on PDAs to ensure proper arrangements at branches and social distance measures and to prevent overcrowding.
