The Government of India has achieved a new milestone in the field of labor. Within two months, the registration of workers on e-Sharm portal has crossed 40 million. Announcing this on Sunday, the Ministry of Labor and Employment said that people from various sectors like construction, textile, manufacturing, fisheries, street vendors, house workers, agriculture and allied sectors are registering on this portal. According to the latest statistics, 4.09 crore workers have registered themselves on this portal. Of these, 50.02% are women and 49.98% are men. Migrant workers have also shown enthusiasm in registering on the portal. According to a statement issued by the ministry, most of the registrations on the portal are from Odisha, West Bengal, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and Madhya Pradesh. However, the registration of small states and Centrally Administered Territories is very low. Let me tell you that less than two months have passed since the launch of this portal.

All unorganized sector workers, including migrants, can avail various social security and employment schemes by registering on the e-shame portal. Individual workers can use the mobile app or website for online registration. In addition, they can register by visiting Common Service Centers (CSCs), State Service Centers, Shame Suvedha Centers, Selected Post Offices, Digital Sewa Centers.

After registration on the e-shame portal, workers are given a digital e-shame card. The card has a universal account number, which is valid throughout the country. They are entitled to Social Security benefits even if they move elsewhere. In case of death or permanent disability of a worker registered on e-shame portal, Rs. 200,000 will be paid. One lakh rupees will be given in case of temporary disability.
