Delhi Pollution: Rs 18 crore will be provided under National Clean Air Program (NCAP) this year in view of severe pollution in the national capital Delhi. The money will be used to address major shortcomings in air pollution management in the capital, Delhi. Let me tell you that this is the first time that funds will be given to Delhi under NCAP. According to media sources, Delhi will get Rs 18.74 crore under NCAP. NCAP is a national level program, which aims to reduce the concentration of PM2.5 and PM10 from 20% to 30% by 2024.

NCAP covers 132 cities that do not meet the proposed National Ambient Air Quality Standards (NAAQS). These cities have been identified on the basis of air quality data obtained during the period 2011-2015 under the National Air Monitoring Program. An official from the Union Environment Ministry said that the national capital has not received any funds under NCAP for two years, as it also includes green cess to be levied on diesel vehicles of more than 2000 cc as another resource. , Which has been implemented by the Central Government. The government has submitted it to the Pollution Control Board (CPCB). In addition, pollution tax is levied on commercial vehicles entering Delhi.

According to officials, this time the availability of funds under NCAP has increased. Fifty cities are already receiving good funding from the Financial Commission for pollution management. Therefore, the availability of funds has improved for the remaining 82 cities under NCAP. Therefore, it has been decided to give some funds to Delhi also. A total of Rs 290 crore is available for these 82 cities this year. By the way, the Delhi government has also prepared a winter action plan to deal with air pollution in the capital. The project focuses on 10 key issues, including prevention of pratha burning, pollution hotspots, construction of smog towers and reduction of vehicle and dust pollution.
