Airtel Offering Complimentary 1GB Data for 3 Days to Selected Prepaid Users: Report

Telecom companies often come with exciting offers to gain new users and retain existing users. According to a report Airtel is offering free 1 GB data to selected users that will last for 3 days.

Airtel is sending messages to let users know about the offer. Users are getting SMS that 1 GB data voucher has been added to their account. Users can redeem that voucher through the Airtel Thanks App in the ‘Coupons’ section.

This report comes out a few days after it was reported that Airtel and Reliance Jio are planning to buy 5-G spectrum across India.

According to a report if the voucher is not claimed before 1st june, it will expire automatically. Report says, free data is given to low recharge plan customers especially Rs 99 smart plan. This might be a tactic to make them happy as these customers aren’t happy with price rise in the basic plan.

This might also be a gift to their customers as the company has performed well in the last quarter. Airtel reported 165 percent growth in consolidated net profit of Rs 2,008 crore in the fourth quarter of FY 2021-22 while it was Rs 759 crore a year ago partially aided by a higher exceptional item of Rs 906 crore.

Also, according to a TRAI report Airtel along with Jio added new subscribers that increased the overall telecom user base to 116.69 crore. Airtel added 22.55 lakh additional customers in March.

On the other side, its struggling rival Vi continues to make losses. Vi reported Rs 7,230 crore loss in FY 2021-22. Yet the company is trying hard to retain its customers. Vi is offering 7GB data for 7 days complimentary data for selected users.
