Aamir Khan still associated with 'Mughal', wrote an emotional note after #Metoo

The #MeToo movement that started after Tanushree Dutt’s allegations against Nana Patekar has removed Aamir Khan from Gulshan Kumar’s biopic. Aamir Khan released the film, which was directed by a man accused of sexual harassment. It is worth mentioning that Aamir did not mention the film and the name of the producer in the note, but it was the ‘Mughal’ film that Subhash Kapoor is going to direct. Aamir was associated with this biopic of Gulshan Kumar as a producer, there was talk that he could play the lead role in it. Now it is certain that Amir is still associated with ‘Mughal’. Producer Bhushan Kumar has confirmed the matter.

“I can’t say much right now,” Bhushan told The Indian Express. All I can say is that this picture starts with the same person who looks almost like my dad. In July we will announce the name of the lead actor. This is a very emotional movie for us, so it takes a lot of time. Work on this film will start next year. Aamir is still associated with the film but not the lead actor.

The film was directed by Subhash Kapoor. After MeToo, Subhash accepted Aamir’s decision to release the film, but also raised some questions. Subhash Kapoor shared a statement on Twitter –

Aamir Khan’s wife Kiran Rao is associated with MAMI and in light of the #MeToo movement, MAMI has announced that the films of the tainted filmmakers will not be screened at the Mumbai Film Festival. Model actor Geetika Tyagi welcomed the decision and questioned whether Aamir Khan was working with director Subhash Kapoor, who is accused of sexual harassment.

After Geetika’s tweet on October 9 last year, the journalists of a famous web portal started demanding an answer from Aamir Khan. Realizing the importance of this question, Amir announced his separation from the Mughals on the night of 10 October. It is noteworthy that this is the same film that Akshay Kumar was supposed to do earlier, but Akshay left this film saying that he is not satisfied with the screenplay. Producer Bhushan Kumar later said in an interview that he would finish the film with a bigger star than Akshay. Then Aamir Khan joined it. Subhash Kapoor’s last film was ‘Jolly LLB 2’, starring Akshay Kumar in the lead role.

Let me tell you that actress Geetika Tyagi, who is struggling to build a career, filed a sexual harassment complaint against director Subhash Kapoor in 2014. Following the complaint lodged with Versova police, the police filed a case against Subhash under sections 354, 354A, 354B and 501 and Subhash Kapoor was also arrested, but he was released on bail on the same day. The matter comes to limelight when a video goes viral in which Geetika is seen leaving her hand on Subhash Kapoor.
